Metoclopramide should be used with caution and under medical supervision, as it may have potential side effects such as drowsiness, restlessness, muscle spasms, and rare but serious neurological effects. It may interact with certain medications, so it is crucial to inform the healthcare provider about all other medications being taken to avoid potential drug interactions. Do not take Metoclopramide if you are allergic to metoclopramide hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, have bleeding, obstruction or a tear in your stomach or gut, have or have or may have a rare tumour of the adrenal gland, which sits near the kidney (pheochromocytoma), if you have ever had involuntary muscle spasms (tardive dyskinesia), when you have been treated with a medicine, have a history of epilepsy or Parkinsons disease, if you have ever had an abnormal blood pigment levels (methaemoglobinemia) or NADH cytochrome-b5 deficiency.
For oral administration. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water.
The recommended single dose is 10 mg, repeated up to three times daily. To avoid overdose, there should be a time interval of at least 6 hours between doses, even in case of vomiting and rejection.
The maximum recommended treatment duration is 2 days
Maxolon (metoclopramide tablets contains 10mg of the active ingredient metoclopramide hydrochloride.
Other inactive ingredients are: maize starch (dried), colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, pregelatinised maize starch and lactose.
Like all medicines, metoclopramide can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. This may include drowsiness, dizziness, tiredness, difficulty sleeping, agitation, headache, and diarrhea.
