What this service is for

This service supports patients showing signs of impetigo—such as red sores, blisters, or crusting around the nose and mouth. Our pharmacist will assess your symptoms and, if appropriate, supply prescription medication to start your treatment straight away.

Who it’s for

Pharmacy First impetigo treatment is suitable for children and adults with mild to moderate symptoms. It’s especially useful for busy families needing fast access to treatment. Patients with more severe symptoms or underlying conditions may be referred to their GP.

How it works

After a short consultation with our pharmacist, you may be offered a prescription treatment—usually a topical antibiotic cream. You’ll be given clear guidance on how to apply the treatment and how to avoid spreading the infection to others.

What to expect

Impetigo typically clears up within 7 to 10 days with treatment. It’s important to avoid touching the sores, wash hands frequently, and keep the area clean. You’ll receive full aftercare advice to support healing and prevent recurrence.
