Mounjaro in Bradford: NHS Support and Private Assessment
Mounjaro in Bradford: NHS access and local support. Explore a private weight-management assessment with The Care Pharmacy.
If you are considering Mounjaro in Hull, check which service provides the help you need: specialist weight-management support or an assessment for medication. Hull’s CHCP service, often known as Weightwise, explicitly does not provide weight-loss injections. It can offer other specialist help; NHS prescribing uses a separate assessment and local arrangements.
The CHCP specialist weight-management service supports adults registered with a Hull or East Riding GP. Its team includes professionals working with nutrition, physical activity, medical needs and psychological wellbeing.
Weightwise does not provide Mounjaro in Hull or other weight-loss injections. If you are hoping to obtain Mounjaro in Hull, self-referring to Weightwise will not arrange that prescription. The service provides other kinds of specialist support. You can still ask whether the support it provides is appropriate for your health.
Consider the help you need beyond a prescription. You may want advice on activity with back or joint problems, support with eating patterns or a plan that takes account of several health conditions. Explain those needs clearly when enquiring.
For adults, the CHCP service describes a body mass index (BMI) over 40, or over 35 with a relevant health condition, alongside registration with a Hull or East Riding GP. Adults over 18 can use its online self-referral route. Check the complete criteria and current arrangements before submitting details.
These are entry criteria for that support service. They are not a test that establishes eligibility for every weight-management medicine. Nor does submitting a referral mean that you have been clinically accepted or given an appointment date.
If you already receive another weight-management programme or private treatment, tell the team before referring. Ask whether its support can be provided alongside your existing care. This avoids signing up to services that cannot offer the help you are expecting.
Hull falls within NHS Humber and North Yorkshire. The regional prescribing arrangements changed in April 2026, with participation by GP practices varying. The regional criteria include adults with BMI at least 35, adjusted to 32.5 for specified ethnic backgrounds, and four qualifying health conditions.
The five qualifying categories are type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, abnormal blood fats, established heart or blood vessel disease, and obstructive sleep apnoea, in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. Your clinician checks that your diagnoses meet the definitions.
They also assess whether treatment is suitable and arrange the support required with an NHS prescription. The regional NHS weight-management information explains the current position. Do not use CHCP’s specialist-support criteria as a substitute for this prescribing assessment.
If you already have a regional prescription, ask the team responsible how further reviews and supply are arranged. If you are seeking a first assessment, clarify whether your practice participates and what other support is appropriate. A general self-referral form does not answer those questions.
Different questions need different teams. Before making contact, decide what you are asking for:
Keep any referral confirmation, service name and appointment message. If you are unsure who is responsible for a review, ask directly. A lifestyle-support appointment may be useful, but it should not be mistaken for an appointment with the clinician who can change your medication.
Tell each team about the other care you receive. Coordinating information is especially useful when several health conditions or medicines are involved.
Some providers accept Hull residents remotely; others offer a physical appointment. Verify which applies before booking. The word “Hull” on a page does not mean that the pharmacy or prescribing clinician is based in the city.
For online care, check the actual registered provider, who reviews your health information and how you contact a clinician later. Be clear about what follow-up is included and how an urgent medicine concern is handled. A low first payment does not explain the complete cost or the quality of continuing care.
Prepare accurate measurements, a medicine list and details of any previous weight-management treatment. If you are transferring, include the last dose and date used. The new prescriber may request more evidence or recommend a different plan.
Private and NHS decisions remain separate. Do not assume that starting privately will lead to NHS supply, or that a specialist support service will take responsibility for medication prescribed elsewhere. Establish those responsibilities before treatment begins.
You can use the specialist assessment to discuss problems that a medicine request alone would miss. For example, painful knees may make general advice to walk more unrealistic, while anxiety may affect eating or attendance. Explain how the problem affects an ordinary day.
The CHCP team includes different professionals, so ask which part of its support is relevant to your needs. You may want to understand how nutrition advice, activity support or psychological wellbeing appointments fit together. The purpose is a practical plan, rather than simply being placed on another list.
Check the expected appointment format and what information the team needs before the first meeting. If it cannot provide the particular help you are seeking, ask for that limitation to be explained clearly. If your main reason for referring is to obtain an injection, ask your GP about the separate prescribing service instead.
Private prescribing is separate from NHS funding. A medicine may be licensed for a wider group of adults than the NHS can currently treat. For weight management, tirzepatide is licensed for adults with a starting body mass index (BMI) of at least 30, or at least 27 with a weight-related condition.
The Care Pharmacy offers an online weight-management assessment. You provide your height, weight, medical history and medicines; a prescriber considers whether treatment is appropriate and may need further information. You complete this assessment online. Our physical branches are in Bradford; contact the team if you have questions or would prefer face-to-face care.
Before committing to private care, ask about the complete cost, follow-up arrangements, help with side effects and what happens if treatment is stopped. Check the current weight-management options for service information.
Mounjaro contains tirzepatide and requires a prescription. Tell your clinician about all medicines, previous weight-management treatment, pancreatitis, severe digestive problems and any planned operation. Read the current Mounjaro patient leaflet before using it; instructions for a different injection may not apply.

Do not use it during pregnancy. If you use the contraceptive pill, discuss adding a barrier method or changing to non-oral contraception for four weeks after starting and after each dose increase. Ask your clinician before treatment if you are breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy.
Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea can occur. Severe, persistent stomach pain, which may spread to your back, needs urgent medical attention because it can be a sign of pancreatitis. Call 999 for breathing difficulty or swelling of the tongue or throat. Do not wait for a routine review. The MHRA guide to weight-management medicines explains these risks and how to avoid unregulated sellers.
The CHCP specialist service described here explicitly does not provide weight-loss injections. Its assessment and support have a different role from the regional prescribing pathway.
Adults over 18 can use the service’s online self-referral route if they meet its criteria. The team still needs to assess the referral; submission is not confirmation of an appointment or medicine.
That description relates to one of the specialist support entry routes. The regional NHS tirzepatide criteria are separate and require further conditions and clinical assessment.
Use the private prescriber responsible for that treatment and keep your GP informed. For urgent symptoms, seek medical help rather than waiting for a routine programme appointment.
If you are considering private weight-management care, The Care Pharmacy’s online assessment lets a prescriber review your health and discuss suitable options. Any prescription depends on that assessment.
