Doxycycline Price Comparison UK: 100mg Malaria Capsules
Doxycycline price comparison: 50 × 100mg malaria prevention capsules from £22 at The Care Pharmacy, plus delivery. Start consultation.

We supply generic atovaquone/proguanil: 12 adult-strength 250mg/100mg tablets from £36 before delivery. When checking a Malarone price elsewhere, look for the brand or generic name as well as the tablet count. Matching generic packs cost £18.99 at Medino and £35 at Superdrug Online Doctor when we checked on 21 October 2026. You may need more than 12 tablets for your trip, so ask for a quote for the complete course.
One pack from us costs £39.99 including £3.99 standard delivery. Medino’s £18.99 pack plus £3.49 standard postage totals £22.48. Superdrug Online Doctor advertises £35 for 12 generic tablets with free standard delivery. Medino had the lowest total of these three at our price check.
We sell generic atovaquone/proguanil and have included our pack alongside the other offers we checked on 21 October 2026. No promotional codes are included. The comparison covers these providers only, and the quantity you need depends on your travel dates and clinical assessment.
| Provider | Medicine | Standard delivery | Worked total |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Care Pharmacy | £36.00 | £3.99 | £39.99 |
| Medino | £18.99 | £3.49 | £22.48 |
| Superdrug Online Doctor | £35.00 | Free advertised | £35.00 |
The figures match the two active ingredients, adult strength and tablet count. Our medicine price is £17.01 above Medino’s and £1 above Superdrug’s for this pack. After the stated standard delivery charges, the differences are £17.51 and £4.99 respectively.
Superdrug also offers 10 tablets for £29. That lower headline buys fewer tablets and is not its 12-tablet price. Likewise, a 16-tablet offer elsewhere should be labelled as a different quantity rather than dropped into this table beside the 12-tablet packs.
Check whether a quote is for generic atovaquone/proguanil or branded Malarone. Our offer is for the generic medicine. If your prescription names a particular product, ask the dispensing pharmacy to confirm what it can supply before comparing an alternative.
Atovaquone and proguanil are the two medicines in the tablet. The adult strength contains 250mg of atovaquone plus 100mg of proguanil hydrochloride. The two numbers belong to different ingredients; they are not two alternative tablet strengths to choose between.
Malarone is a brand containing this combination. The Malarone product information describes the adult tablet and separate paediatric formulation. A child’s lower-strength tablets should not be compared with the adult pack as if the count alone made them equivalent.
Generic packs may look different or come from different manufacturers. Check the dispensing label, named ingredients and strength when your medicine arrives. If anything differs from what was prescribed, contact the pharmacy before taking it; a familiar-looking box is not the best way to identify a medicine.
Maloff Protect also contains atovaquone/proguanil, but is a separately branded pharmacy medicine with its own supply criteria. Its availability does not make every adult, child or itinerary suitable for that route. This table keeps to the generic 12-tablet offers.
For adult prevention, UK malaria guidance describes one adult-strength tablet daily, starting one or two days before entering a risk area and continuing for seven days after leaving. Your clinician decides whether this medicine and schedule suit you.
Two days before entry, 14 days in the risk area and seven days afterwards total 23 daily tablets. That example shows why a 12-tablet starting pack cannot be advertised as a complete two-week travel course. The actual count needs to follow your itinerary and prescription. Keep the written directions with your travel documents so you can continue the course after returning home.
Ask for the price of the agreed quantity. Do not assume that multiplying £36 by a number of packs gives every available course price, or that a pharmacist will supply an arbitrary number. Pack options, the prescription and delivery thresholds can all affect the final bill.
If you leave and re-enter risk areas during a longer trip, take the full route to your travel assessment. Do not calculate separate short courses yourself. The advice may depend on the gaps between visits and whether malaria prevention is recommended at each stop.
Our standard delivery policy gives £3.99 postage, free for orders over £40. A single £36 pack is below that threshold, giving the £39.99 example. A different prescribed quantity could change the delivery charge, so request a fresh total.
Medino includes a pharmacist assessment under a Patient Group Direction (PGD), a framework authorising supply to suitable patients. The generic medicine remains prescription-only. Superdrug Online Doctor uses an online clinical assessment and lists free standard delivery for this service; faster delivery can cost extra.
The totals use the standard options quoted by each provider. They do not promise the same delivery speed. A prescriber or pharmacist must complete the assessment before medicine can be dispatched, and a carrier estimate begins later in that process.
Let the service know if you are close to departure. Check the dispatch timing before paying for express postage: a faster postal service cannot replace the clinical review or make a late start appropriate. Seek a travel clinic or pharmacist promptly if there is little time left.
Severe kidney impairment can rule out atovaquone/proguanil for prevention. Pregnancy or breastfeeding needs individual advice. Medicines including rifampicin, rifabutin, metoclopramide and some HIV treatments can affect the choice; warfarin may need extra monitoring. Do not leave these details out of an online assessment.
Take the prescribed dose with food or a milky drink to help absorption, following your own label. If you vomit after taking a tablet, ask promptly about replacement dosing and whether another medicine is needed. Persistent vomiting or diarrhoea can make prevention less reliable.
Keep mosquito-bite precautions in the plan. The NHS malaria advice covers repellent, clothing and nets as well as tablets. Fever or flu-like illness while abroad needs prompt assessment. After travel to a risk area in the past 12 months, seek urgent GP advice or NHS 111 for possible malaria symptoms and explain where you have been.
The listed medicine option is 12 generic atovaquone/proguanil 250mg/100mg tablets. Standard postage adds £3.99 under the checked terms. Confirm the full prescribed quantity and final charges before payment.
We supply generic atovaquone/proguanil for the option compared here. If your prescription specifies the Malarone brand, contact us before ordering so we can check supply.
No. The checked £29 option contains 10 tablets; its matching 12-tablet option costs £35. The table uses 12 throughout.
The medicines have different schedules, including how long they continue after leaving a malaria area. Compare the clinically suitable complete courses rather than the cost of one capsule or tablet.
Our doxycycline versus Malarone guide explains the differences. Your itinerary and health still need individual assessment before either medicine is supplied.
