Compare period-delay options with the dates in view

Norethisterone prices at The Care Pharmacy start at £16.99 for the listed 7-day-delay option, plus delivery. Comparing that with a box of 30 tablets needs care: days of delay, days taking medicine and tablet quantity are different measures. Here is how to read the offers without confusing them.

The quick answer: a delay label is not a tablet count

Our 5mg norethisterone options are labelled 7, 10 and 14 days of delay, at £16.99, £21.99 and £29.99 respectively. Boots Online Doctor lists 30 tablets at £20, 60 at £29 and 90 at £40. These offers use different quantity descriptions, so the starting figures alone cannot establish which provides more medicine for your money.

Before payment, ask for the exact tablet quantity and the start and stop dates for your agreed course. We have not converted our delay labels into assumed tablet counts or ranked them against Boots’ boxes as identical packs.

The Care Pharmacy sells norethisterone and produced this guide. Our dated sample covers The Care Pharmacy, Boots Online Doctor and Superdrug Online Doctor, using public prices checked on 16 October 2026. It is not a survey of every UK provider, and no promotional codes are included.

Norethisterone prices by the option listed

The Care Pharmacy: 5mg period-delay options · 16 October 2026
Listed option Treatment price With £3.99 standard delivery
7-day delay £16.99 £20.98
10-day delay £21.99 £25.98
14-day delay £29.99 £33.98

These labels describe the intended delay period, rather than seven, ten or fourteen tablets. The actual prescribing plan needs to allow for the days before the expected period as well. Effectiveness and the timing of bleeding vary, so selecting a duration is not a guarantee of a particular bleeding-free date.

The table gives the advertised option prices without inventing a pack quantity. If the clinician recommends a different course after assessment, compare that final proposal. A longer option is not automatically appropriate because its daily headline appears lower.

Someone covering a short event and someone planning a longer trip may need different dates. Share the expected period date and the last date you wish to cover, rather than choosing a course based only on the number of days away.

How tablet-count offers are described elsewhere

Norethisterone 5mg: tablet-count offers · 16 October 2026
Pack Boots Online Doctor Superdrug Online Doctor
30 tablets £20.00 £17.99
60 tablets £29.00 £26.99
90 tablets £40.00 £43.00

Both Boots and Superdrug advertise free standard delivery. Their named pack prices are therefore also the worked standard-delivery totals under those terms. Superdrug is lower for 30 and 60 tablets; Boots is lower for 90. These are not direct equivalents to our delay-labelled options until the supplied quantities and course dates match.

For example, 30 tablets provide ten days of dosing if the prescribed instruction is one tablet three times a day. That is not the same as ten days of delay after the expected period date, because treatment normally begins beforehand. This arithmetic explains the label issue; it does not establish the contents of our seven-day option.

A larger box also does not mean the medicine should be taken for longer. The clinician decides the suitable course and whether another approach would be better for you. Keep leftover tablets out of any plan for a future event until you have obtained appropriate advice.

Why the three-day lead-in matters

The usual licensed regimen for period delay is 5mg three times a day, starting three days before the expected period. Follow the instructions issued for you. If your period is due sooner or has already started, explain this before ordering rather than assuming faster delivery will solve the timing problem.

Assessment, prescribing, dispensing and delivery each take time. A next-day postage option is a transport service; it cannot guarantee approval or replace the necessary lead-in. Request advice early enough to discuss your dates and alternatives without pressure.

The NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service guidance explains that response varies and bleeding usually returns within about three days of stopping. Spotting can still occur. This is why a price per “day delayed” should not be read as a promise about the outcome.

Prepare these details before comparing a course

A useful quote should answer the practical questions that affect your trip or event:

  • When is your next period expected, and how regular is your cycle?
  • Which dates would you like to cover, including the intended stop date?
  • What tablet count and written directions will the agreed course include?
  • What assessment, delivery and any other charges will you pay?

If you already use hormonal contraception, tell the clinician which product and how you take it. The appropriate way to change your bleeding pattern may be different. Do not add norethisterone to an existing regimen without advice.

Our norethisterone product information now distinguishes the delay options from tablet counts. Ask the pharmacy to clarify any remaining uncertainty before payment. An exact quantity is more useful than a reassuring but ambiguous “course” label.

Norethisterone prices with the full order in view

Our standard delivery is £3.99, with free standard delivery on orders over £40. Each single option in the table falls below that threshold. The £16.99 starting option therefore has a worked total of £20.98 with standard delivery, rather than £16.99 delivered.

Do not compare that £20.98 directly with Boots’ £20 as if both necessarily contain the same supply. Once your tablet count is confirmed, a matching comparison becomes possible. Until then, the honest distinction is between a delay-labelled option and a specified box of tablets.

Check cancellation and refund arrangements if timing is important. A missed event, a clinical refusal and a parcel delay are different situations; do not assume they have the same policy. Confirm the current final quote and expected process before deciding.

Important suitability checks for period delay

Norethisterone used for period delay is not contraception. Pregnancy remains possible, and the medicine must not be used during pregnancy. Tell the prescriber about breastfeeding, unexplained vaginal bleeding, liver disease and any personal or family history of blood clots, as well as migraine and all other medicines.

Some medicines, including certain epilepsy and HIV treatments, can interact. Headache, nausea, breast tenderness, mood changes and irregular bleeding may occur. Read the patient leaflet supplied with your own pack for the full warnings.

Seek urgent help for sudden chest pain, breathlessness or a painful swollen leg, which can be signs of a blood clot. Get prompt advice for jaundice or a new migraine-type headache. Our period delay service checks suitability before a prescription decision. Price alone cannot establish that treatment is safe for your circumstances.

Norethisterone prices: check the final quote

When saving norethisterone prices, write down both the intended delay and the actual dosing dates. “Cover my holiday” is not precise enough if travel starts before the expected period or continues beyond the planned stop date. The clinician needs the dates that affect the course.

Ask for the quantity to be written alongside those instructions. Norethisterone prices become comparable only when the medicine supplied for that plan is clear. If your expected period date changes, discuss that before starting rather than adjusting the timing or taking leftover tablets yourself.

Norethisterone prices: common questions

Does the seven-day option mean seven tablets?

No. It describes the intended delay period. Treatment normally begins before the expected period, so the dosing period is longer. Ask for the exact tablet count and written dates for your course.

Can I compare a 30-tablet pack with a ten-day delay?

Not simply. At three tablets a day, 30 tablets cover ten dosing days, including any lead-in. Match the agreed course dates and actual quantity before comparing like for like.

Is £16.99 the delivered starting price?

No. Adding our £3.99 standard delivery gives £20.98 for the starting option under the terms checked. Recheck the final total and course details before payment.

Will norethisterone definitely stop my period for an event?

No. Timing and response vary, and spotting can occur. Explain your expected period date and intended dates before treatment. It is not contraception and requires a suitability assessment.

Discuss period delay with a clinician

The Care Pharmacy’s period delay service assesses your symptoms, medical history and current medicines before recommending treatment. You can ask about suitable options, the proposed quantity and the full cost before deciding. Completing an assessment does not guarantee a prescription or supply.
