Betnovate is a prescription-strength topical cream formulated to treat a range of inflammatory skin conditions.  It contains betamethasone valerate, a potent corticosteroid that works to rapidly reduce redness, itching, and swelling associated with skin flare-ups.  With correct use, it can help to restore the skin to a calmer, more comfortable state within a relatively short period of time.

This treatment is suitable for adults and children over the age of one year who are experiencing conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, or allergic skin reactions.  It is intended for short-term use on the body and should be applied once or twice daily to the affected area as directed.  Betnovate is not suitable for use on the face, broken skin, or under airtight dressings unless specifically advised by a healthcare professional.

Betnovate is generally well tolerated when used correctly and for the recommended duration.  However, it is important to avoid prolonged use, as this may increase the risk of side effects.  Before starting Betnovate, consulting a healthcare professional is essential to confirm it is appropriate for your skin condition.  It should not be used on skin affected by untreated bacterial, fungal, or viral infections.  Always follow the guidance provided by your doctor or the patient information leaflet throughout the course of treatment.

Common side effects include mild burning or stinging upon application, skin dryness, and irritation, particularly during the initial stages of use.  These effects are usually temporary and tend to subside as the skin adjusts.  If symptoms worsen or any signs of an allergic reaction develop, discontinue use and seek advice from your doctor promptly.

Betnovate offers an effective option for those seeking relief from inflammatory skin conditions as part of a short-term treatment plan.  A healthcare professional can help determine whether this treatment is the right choice for your individual needs and advise on how to use it safely for the best possible results.

Betnovate cream may cause side effects in some individuals, with reactions ranging from mild to more significant in nature.  Skin thinning, mild burning or stinging upon application, and dryness are among the most commonly reported effects, and tend to be most noticeable during the early stages of treatment.  Some individuals may also experience changes in skin colour or increased hair growth in the areas where the cream has been applied.  In rare circumstances, more serious reactions can develop, including signs of an allergic reaction, worsening of the skin condition, or the development of an infection at the application site.  Any symptoms that are severe, unusual, or persistent should never be overlooked, and prompt medical attention should be sought as soon as possible.  Before beginning or stopping Betnovate, consulting a healthcare professional is vital to ensure the treatment remains appropriate and safe for your particular skin condition and individual needs.

Betnovate should be stored at a temperature below 25°C in a cool, dry environment away from direct heat and light.  Keeping the cream well out of the reach of children and pets at all times is absolutely essential.  High humidity environments such as bathrooms, or areas in close proximity to heat sources, should be avoided as storage locations for this product.  Storing Betnovate in its original tube and carton, and ensuring the cap is tightly secured after each use, will help to maintain the integrity of the product and prevent contamination.  Should you have any further questions regarding the storage of Betnovate, your pharmacist or prescriber will be happy to provide any additional guidance required.

Betnovate Cream treats inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and contact dermatitis. It helps reduce redness, swelling, itching, and irritation during flare-ups.
Use a thin layer once or twice daily, exactly as directed by your doctor. As soon as your symptoms improve, reduce use or stop completely to avoid overuse.
Only use Betnovate on the face if your doctor advises it. The skin on the face is delicate and more prone to thinning from strong corticosteroids like Betnovate.
Most people see improvement within a few days. A typical course lasts 7–10 days. If symptoms don’t improve or worsen, speak to your GP.
Side effects are rare with short-term use. However, prolonged or excessive use may cause skin thinning, irritation, or discolouration. Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions.
