How Cialis Daily works
Tadalafil, the active ingredient in Cialis, belongs to a group of medicines called PDE5 inhibitors. During sexual arousal, the body releases nitric oxide in the penis. This raises levels of a chemical called cGMP. cGMP relaxes smooth muscle, so more blood flows into the penis and an erection can form.
An enzyme called PDE5 breaks cGMP down. Tadalafil blocks PDE5, so cGMP stays active for longer. Taken every day, tadalafil builds up to a steady level in your body over about five days.
Important: Cialis Daily does not cause an erection on its own. Sexual stimulation is still needed. It does not increase sexual desire.

Before starting Cialis Daily
Do not take Cialis Daily if you:
- use nitrate medicines for chest pain, or recreational “poppers”
- take riociguat
- have been told to avoid sexual activity because of a heart condition
- are allergic to tadalafil or any of the other ingredients
Tell your prescriber about:
- all medicines you take, including alpha blockers for blood pressure or prostate problems, and some HIV or antifungal medicines
- any heart, blood pressure, kidney, liver or eye conditions
- any other ED treatment. Do not combine Cialis Daily with other ED medicines unless a clinician has advised it.
Get urgent medical help if:
- an erection lasts four hours or more
- you have sudden loss of vision or hearing
- you get chest pain during or after sex. Do not take a nitrate for it.
