It is worth saying at the outset that London is not covered by a single NHS weight management policy. The capital is split across five separate NHS Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), and the pathway available to you depends on which ICB covers your GP practice. These clinics generally offer in-person consultations and monitoring, which suits patients who prefer face-to-face contact, though this often comes at a higher cost than remote options.

Wegovy is a once-weekly injectable GLP-1 receptor agonist containing semaglutide. Like Mounjaro, it reduces appetite and helps with satiety, and is licensed for weight management in adults meeting relevant BMI thresholds.
For patients who prefer to avoid injections, we also offer the Wegovy pill, an oral tablet form of semaglutide. Eligibility, dosing, and monitoring follow the same careful clinical process as the injectable form, and suitability is assessed on an individual basis.
Saxenda is a daily injectable GLP-1 receptor agonist containing liraglutide. It was one of the earlier GLP-1 medicines licensed for weight management in the UK and remains a suitable option for some patients, particularly where a daily rather than weekly dosing schedule is preferred.
Nevolat is a daily weight loss injection offering a further dosing option for patients for whom a once-daily treatment schedule suits their routine better than a weekly injection. As with all our treatments, suitability is confirmed through clinical assessment before any prescription is issued.
Orlistat works differently to the GLP-1 and dual-agonist medicines above. Rather than acting on appetite, it works in the gut to reduce the amount of dietary fat absorbed from food, taken alongside a reduced-calorie, lower-fat diet. It can be a suitable option for patients who are not eligible for, or do not wish to use, injectable treatments.
Every one of these medicines carries potential side effects and is not suitable for everyone. A proper clinical assessment, covering your medical history, current medications, and any contraindications, is essential before any prescription is issued. We would strongly caution against sourcing any of these medicines from unregulated sellers who skip this step.
As a general guide, private prescribing for GLP-1 and dual-agonist weight loss medicines in the UK is typically considered for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI of 27 or above where a weight-related health condition is also present, such as type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure. Exact thresholds can vary slightly by medicine and by prescriber, which is why an individual assessment matters more than a general rule of thumb.
