FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus Price Comparison UK: Sensor Costs

Libre 3 Plus prices · Prices checked 26 October 2026

Libre 3 Plus prices: what will your next sensor cost?

Our Libre 3 Plus prices start at £69.99 excluding VAT for one sensor. When comparing offers, check that each price covers the same sensor and quantity, then add any VAT and delivery that apply to you. That gives you a more useful figure than the headline price alone.

What does one sensor cost?

We list one FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor at £69.99 excluding VAT, with free standard delivery on orders over £40. Ask us to confirm your final price, including any applicable VAT or delivery upgrade.

In this selected sample, Medino lists a single sensor at £74.99 and Chemist4U at £79.99. Click2Pharmacy separates £79.99 for eligible VAT-relieved customers from £95.99 including VAT. VAT and delivery differ between these offers, so compare the final amount that applies to your order.

We sell this sensor, so our own price is included below. We checked the other named offers on 26 October 2026 and left out discount codes, loyalty points and introductory offers. The comparison covers these sellers only; we have not checked every UK supplier.

Libre 3 Plus prices for a single sensor

The model name matters: this table covers FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus, rather than the original Libre 3 or Libre 2 Plus. Each row is for one sensor, not a reader, starter kit or mixed bundle.

Single FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor · Checked 26 October 2026
Seller Advertised price VAT information
The Care Pharmacy £69.99 Excluding VAT; confirm your final amount
Medino £74.99 VAT basis not separately confirmed
Chemist4U £79.99 Marked VAT-exempt; confirm eligibility
Click2Pharmacy £79.99 / £95.99 Eligible VAT-relieved / including VAT

A £74.99 listing is not automatically dearer than a £69.99 excluding-VAT listing. First ask whether both amounts include the tax that applies to you. Ask each seller to confirm the amount you would pay, including how it handles any eligible VAT relief.

Delivery also needs its own check. Medino advertises free next-day delivery on the checked sensor offer. Our standard service is free above £40; a premium courier costs extra. We have not assumed that every named seller offers an equivalent delivery service at no charge.

Check whether the quoted VAT treatment applies to you

VAT relief can apply to qualifying products bought for the personal or domestic use of someone with a qualifying disability or long-term illness. GOV.UK includes diabetes among its examples. Eligibility needs confirming with the supplier; a medical-device label alone does not make every purchase VAT-free.

Our displayed amount is excluding VAT. Before comparing Libre 3 Plus prices, request the amount you would actually pay and check how any VAT relief is handled. Do not assume that a price marked “VAT-exempt” elsewhere is available to every shopper.

If a seller gives you two figures, record the one relevant to your circumstances. If it gives only one without explaining the tax, ask before concluding that the offer is cheaper. This is especially useful when comparing a pharmacy with a manufacturer’s shop.

What do repeat Libre 3 Plus prices mean for your budget?

Abbott specifies up to 15 days of wear per sensor. Two sensors therefore provide up to 30 days of scheduled wear. That is a useful budgeting period, although it is not the length of every calendar month and does not guarantee that every sensor will last its full wear period.

At our listed price, two separately priced sensors total £139.98 excluding VAT. Six total £419.94 excluding VAT, for up to 90 days of scheduled wear. These figures use our single-sensor price. They do not include a multipack discount, and prices may change before your next order.

Chemist4U advertises two sensors at £155.99 and three at £229.99. Buying three sensors means paying more upfront than buying one. Its advertised per-sensor amount is about £76.66, but check VAT eligibility and the full bill before treating that as a saving.

Buy a quantity you can use within its expiry dates and store as directed. A large order is less useful if you are about to change your monitoring system or your diabetes team is reviewing compatibility. Ask about a sensible reserve supply rather than building an order just to reach a discount threshold.

Make sure this is the sensor your system uses

Libre 3 Plus measures glucose in the fluid under the skin and sends readings to a compatible device. Abbott lists the Libre 3 app or a compatible Libre 3 reader. Check the exact phone model and operating system against the current UK compatibility guide before ordering.

An app being available to download is not proof that every phone function has been tested. If you use an insulin pump, confirm the approved sensor, app and pump combination with your diabetes team. A different sensor is not a money-saving substitute unless it suits that system.

Keep these details beside your order:

  • The full name FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus, including “Plus”.
  • Whether you need a sensor alone or also a compatible display device.
  • Your phone, app or reader model and any connected pump requirements.
  • The number of sensors, expiry dates and VAT-inclusive final quote.

Abbott currently highlights a field safety notice affecting a subset of Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus sensors. Follow the manufacturer’s UK notice and serial-number checking instructions. Do not assume that every sensor is affected, or that buying from a particular seller replaces that check.

What if the sensor does not work as expected?

Keep the packaging, serial number and order confirmation. They help the retailer or manufacturer identify the item if it fails to start, detaches early or gives an error. Ask who handles support and which information they need; do not budget on the assumption that every early failure automatically brings a free replacement.

If readings or alarms do not match your symptoms or expectations, check with a blood glucose meter as instructed and follow your diabetes team’s advice. Do not make treatment decisions from a reading you believe is wrong. The monitoring system and a finger-prick meter measure glucose in different places.

If cost is making it difficult to maintain your supply, speak to your diabetes team about access and a safe plan. Private purchase does not itself establish NHS funding eligibility. Avoid leaving a gap in your agreed monitoring arrangements while you search for a lower price.

Questions about Libre 3 Plus prices

Are Libre 3 Plus prices the same as Libre 3 prices?

No. They are different sensor versions. Match the full model name and compatible system, rather than selecting an older product because its headline is lower.

Does £69.99 include VAT?

No. It is our listed price for one sensor before any applicable VAT. Confirm the final charge and any applicable relief before paying. Standard delivery is free above £40.

Do I need to buy a reader every time?

A replacement-sensor order does not automatically require a new reader. Check that you already have a compatible phone or reader; it is not included simply because a listing says “sensor”.

Can I compare the price per day?

You can divide a single-sensor price by its maximum 15-day wear period as a budgeting aid. It does not guarantee 15 days of use or include VAT, delivery or other equipment unless those costs are added.
