Otomize and generic ear spray for swimmer’s ear
Itching, soreness and inflammation around the outer ear canal can be signs of otitis externa. This prescription spray is an option when a prescriber confirms it is appropriate for your symptoms.
What is supplied?
Branded Otomize has been discontinued by the manufacturer, which introduced a generic equivalent. The Otomize name is retained here to help identify the treatment; it does not guarantee a branded pack.
The product is a 5ml ear spray containing dexamethasone 0.1%, neomycin sulfate 0.5% and acetic acid 2%. A generic version may be supplied; packaging can differ from the image. Check the displayed price before starting your assessment.
Is it suitable for your ear problem?
Tell the prescriber about discharge, hearing changes, previous ear surgery or grommets. Do not use this spray with a known or suspected perforated eardrum or grommets in place. An examination may be needed before treatment can be supplied.
What to expect next
Complete the assessment with details of your symptoms and medicines. If approved, follow the prescription and supplied leaflet. Seek advice if symptoms worsen or have not improved within seven days.
