Differin Price Comparison UK: Gel Pack Sizes and Total Costs

Differin prices | Checked 8 October 2026

Differin prices: compare gel quantities before the headline cost

Differin prices are not a fair comparison unless you check the gel quantity. On 8 October 2026, The Care Pharmacy listed adapalene 0.1% gel at £26.99 for 45g, while Dr Fox listed 50g at £24.50 and Boots Online Doctor listed 50g at £28. These are different pack sizes. This guide shows the medicine cost, delivery total and approximate cost per gram without pretending every listing is identical.

Differin prices: the quick answer

For a single pack with standard delivery, our checked examples total £30.98 for 45g from The Care Pharmacy, £30.40 for 50g from Dr Fox and £28.00 for 50g from Boots Online Doctor. The Care Pharmacy is not the lowest-cost entry in this sample. The quantities also differ.

If a clinician has recommended Differin gel, compare the total for a suitable quantity and ask what support is included. A saving matters only when you are comparing treatment that fits your prescription. None of these prices is a promise of eligibility or supply.

Differin prices for the listed gel packs

All three entries below are for Differin gel containing adapalene 0.1%. The strength is matched, but the pack quantity is not identical. Creams and higher-strength adapalene products are excluded.

Differin adapalene 0.1% gel: medicine prices
Provider Listed quantity Medicine price
The Care Pharmacy 45g £26.99
Dr Fox 50g £24.50
Boots Online Doctor 50g £28.00

A 50g pack contains about 11% more gel than a 45g pack. It is not a stronger medicine. A small difference in the headline price can therefore hide a meaningful difference in quantity.

Check the pack you are actually offered at the time of ordering. A listing may change or show a different quantity after assessment. These figures are a dated provider sample, not a complete survey of every UK pharmacy.

Compare Differin prices per gram

Dividing the medicine price by the supplied grams helps put the different pack sizes on the same arithmetic basis. The figures below are rounded to the nearest penny.

Quantity-adjusted cost: Differin 0.1% gel
Provider Medicine cost per gram Cost per gram with standard delivery
The Care Pharmacy, 45g £0.60 £0.69
Dr Fox, 50g £0.49 £0.61
Boots Online Doctor, 50g £0.56 £0.56

These are costs per gram supplied, not per application or per day. They do not tell you how much to apply. Follow the amount and frequency advised for your own treatment, rather than making a tube last an arbitrary number of weeks.

The calculation is also not a rating of clinical care. It shows quantity and price, while advice, assessment, tolerability and your treatment plan remain separate considerations.

Differin prices after delivery and prescription fees

The Care Pharmacy’s standard delivery costs £3.99, free on orders over £40.00. No separate prescription fee was displayed with the checked treatment price. Premium delivery changes the total.

Dr Fox’s £24.50 medicine price falls into its £3.00 prescription-fee band; standard delivery adds £2.90. Boots advertises free standard delivery for its acne service.

One gel pack: standard-delivery cost examples
Provider Medicine Separate prescription fee Delivery Total
The Care Pharmacy, 45g £26.99 None displayed £3.99 £30.98
Dr Fox, 50g £24.50 £3.00 £2.90 £30.40
Boots Online Doctor, 50g £28.00 None displayed Included £28.00

There are no discount codes, points, membership savings or other items in these examples. Confirm the final quote and the exact delivery choice. A search snippet showing “from” may refer to another product or quantity and should not replace those checks.

Keep gels, creams and combinations separate

Differin contains adapalene, a medicine related to vitamin A called a retinoid. It comes as a gel or cream. A cream and a gel can have the same active-ingredient strength while feeling different on the skin. If your prescription specifies gel, do not silently substitute a cream because the price looks similar.

Dr Fox lists both cream and gel at £24.50 for 50g. That shared price does not make them interchangeable choices for every person. Confirm any switch with the clinician or pharmacist, particularly if previous irritation affected your treatment.

Epiduo contains adapalene plus benzoyl peroxide, so an Epiduo price is not another quote for Differin. Our Epiduo and Differin comparison covers the ingredient decision separately. The purpose here is to compare the cost of a suitable Differin gel supply.

Combination offers that include an antibiotic also change the purchase. Keep the added medicine, course length and clinical review visible. Do not start an antibiotic or add another product containing adapalene simply to use an offer.

How much gel belongs in your budget?

A face-only routine and treatment covering the chest or back may use different quantities. Tell the prescriber where the acne is and what you already apply. Ask whether the proposed pack is likely to cover the period until review, rather than assuming every tube is a month’s supply.

NICE acne guidance recommends reviewing initial treatment at around 12 weeks. This is a review point, not a pack-size formula. You may need advice sooner if irritation, scarring or worsening symptoms are affecting you.

Dr Fox lists two 50g gel packs at £46.00 before fees. Under its over-£40.00 prescription band and standard delivery, that example totals £52.90. It is a 100g purchase, not a like-for-like rival to one 45g pack.

The Care Pharmacy’s two listed 45g packs would cost £53.98 before any change in the final quote and qualify for its free standard delivery. That supplies 90g, not 100g. These examples explain quantity differences; they do not recommend ordering two packs.

Avoid paying for a routine you cannot maintain

Price matters, but repeated buying and abandoning treatment can be expensive too. If dryness or soreness makes you stop, tell the clinical team what happened. A realistic routine can be more useful than the lowest price for a product you cannot tolerate.

  • Keep the normal repeat price and delivery fee in your budget.
  • Include appropriate gentle skincare rather than several new active products.
  • Ask what happens if the assessment recommends another treatment.
  • Check automatic-payment and cancellation terms for any repeat plan.

An introductory discount can help with the first order but may not apply again. We have not deducted promotional offers or assumed that a particular patient qualifies for one. Keep a copy of the dated quote and the quantity it covers.

If affordability changes, ask for advice before reducing applications yourself or buying from an unregulated seller. A prescriber can consider suitable options and explain how to use them. Be honest about missed treatment, because that affects the next decision.

Check suitability before choosing a supplier

The Differin gel prescribing information confirms adapalene 0.1% and lists different pack sizes. Do not use Differin during pregnancy or when planning pregnancy. Discuss breastfeeding and keep treatment away from areas where an infant could touch it.

Dryness, redness and irritation can occur. Avoid applying it to broken or sunburnt skin, or areas affected by eczema, minimise excessive sun exposure and do not add other retinoids yourself. Excessive application does not produce faster results. Seek advice for severe irritation; call 999 for breathing difficulty or tongue or throat swelling.

Follow the expiry instructions on your actual pack. The gel should be stored below 25°C and not frozen. Expiry and storage matter when evaluating a larger order, especially if you still have an older tube at home.

Verify the dispensing pharmacy through the GPhC register. A cheap listing is not evidence that the medicine or prescribing service is suitable for you.

Your price questions answered

Why is The Care Pharmacy pack smaller?

The current listing is for 45g, while the two competitors checked list 50g. Pack availability varies. Check the quantity supplied rather than assuming the same brand always means the same size.

Can I compare Differin cream with gel?

Compare the form your clinician considers suitable. A cream price can provide context but should not be presented as an identical gel quote or used to change your treatment without advice.

Is a lower cost per gram enough to choose a provider?

It helps compare quantities, but the final total, assessment, clinical support and an appropriate prescribed supply also matter.

Have your acne treatment checked

The Care Pharmacy acne assessment lets you explain your symptoms, current skincare and previous treatment. A prescriber can consider whether Differin gel is suitable and what quantity fits your plan, with referral when you need a different level of care.
