Foundayo contains orforglipron, a GLP-1 receptor agonist licensed in the UK for weight management in eligible adults alongside a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity. It is supplied as a film coated tablet you swallow once a day, at any time of day, with or without food, and with no fasting or specific water requirements.

Foundayo is a prescription only medicine. We are gradually releasing new strengths throughout August and September as stock becomes available. You will complete a short online assessment, and one of our UK prescribers will review whether it is clinically appropriate for you and which available strength may be suitable.

How does Foundayo work?

Orforglipron acts on GLP-1 receptors in the body. GLP-1 is a naturally occurring hormone involved in appetite regulation, food intake and blood glucose control.

When prescribed for weight management, Foundayo is used alongside dietary changes and increased physical activity to support weight loss and long term weight management. It is not a standalone treatment and works best as part of an ongoing plan.

Who may be eligible?

Foundayo is licensed for adults with an initial BMI of 30 kg/m² or above, or a BMI of 27 kg/m² to below 30 kg/m² where at least one weight related condition is also present. Examples include prediabetes or type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea or cardiovascular disease.

Your medical history, current medicines, BMI and treatment goals are reviewed by a prescriber before any prescription only treatment is supplied. The same criteria apply to the weight loss treatments we stock today.

How to Take Foundayo

Always take Foundayo exactly as prescribed by your doctor or prescriber.

How often should I take Foundayo?

Foundayo is taken once daily.

You can take your tablet at any time of day and it can be taken with or without food.

  • Swallow the tablet whole.
  • Do not break, crush or chew the tablet.
  • Do not take more than one tablet in a single day.
  • Do not change your dose unless instructed by your prescriber.

Starting and increasing your dose

The usual starting dose is 0.8 mg once daily for 30 days.

After 30 days, your prescriber will normally increase your dose to 2.5 mg once daily.

After at least another 30 days, the dose may be increased to 5.5 mg once daily.

If required, your prescriber may then increase the dose gradually through the following strengths:

  • 9 mg once daily
  • 14.5 mg once daily
  • 17.2 mg once daily

You should normally remain on each dose for at least 30 days before moving to a higher strength.

The maximum recommended daily dose is 17.2 mg.

What if I forget a dose?

If you forget to take Foundayo, take your dose as soon as you remember.

Do not take more than one dose in a day and do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet.

What if I take too much?

If you take more Foundayo than prescribed, contact your doctor or another healthcare professional immediately.

Taking too much Foundayo may cause symptoms including nausea or vomiting.

Do not stop taking Foundayo or change your dose without speaking to your prescriber.

Possible Side Effects of Foundayo

Like all medicines, Foundayo can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them.

Side effects affecting the stomach and digestive system are particularly common when starting treatment or increasing the dose. These often improve over time.

Very common side effects

These may affect more than 1 in 10 people:

  • Feeling sick (nausea)
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhoea
  • Being sick (vomiting)
  • Indigestion (dyspepsia)
  • Stomach or abdominal pain

Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) may also occur when Foundayo is used alongside insulin or certain other medicines used to treat diabetes.

Common side effects

These may affect up to 1 in 10 people:

  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Fast pulse
  • Low blood pressure
  • Stomach bloating
  • Burping
  • Acid reflux or heartburn
  • Wind or flatulence
  • Gallstones
  • Hair loss
  • Feeling tired
  • Increased levels of pancreatic enzymes in the blood

Uncommon side effects

These may affect up to 1 in 100 people:

  • Inflammation of the pancreas (acute pancreatitis)
  • Low blood sugar when Foundayo is used without insulin or a sulfonylurea
  • Changes in your sense of taste
  • Unusual or unpleasant sensations when touched

Serious side effects

Seek urgent medical help if you develop severe and persistent stomach pain, particularly if it spreads to your back. This can be a symptom of acute pancreatitis.

You should also seek medical advice if you experience a serious allergic reaction, sudden changes in your vision, symptoms of bowel obstruction, severe constipation or symptoms of significant dehydration.

Active ingredient

The active ingredient in Foundayo is orforglipron.

Foundayo is available in six tablet strengths:

  • 0.8 mg orforglipron
  • 2.5 mg orforglipron
  • 5.5 mg orforglipron
  • 9 mg orforglipron
  • 14.5 mg orforglipron
  • 17.2 mg orforglipron

Other ingredients

Tablet core:

  • Microcrystalline cellulose
  • Crospovidone
  • Copovidone
  • Sodium carbonate anhydrous
  • Magnesium stearate

Tablet film coating:

  • Polyvinyl alcohol
  • Titanium dioxide
  • Macrogol
  • Talc

Different tablet strengths may also contain iron oxide colourings.

  • Iron oxide red (E172) is used in the 0.8 mg, 5.5 mg, 9 mg and 17.2 mg tablets.
  • Iron oxide yellow (E172) is used in the 0.8 mg, 2.5 mg, 9 mg and 14.5 mg tablets.
  • Iron oxide black (E172) is used in the 5.5 mg and 17.2 mg tablets.

Foundayo contains less than 1 mmol of sodium (23 mg) per tablet and is therefore considered essentially sodium free.

How long does one pack last?

Foundayo is available in packs containing 30 tablets and 90 tablets. A 30 tablet pack provides approximately one month of treatment when one tablet is taken daily as prescribed.

Who may be eligible for Foundayo for weight management?

Foundayo may be considered for adults with an initial BMI of 30 kg/m² or above.

It may also be considered for adults with a BMI of at least 27 kg/m² but below 30 kg/m² who also have at least one weight-related health condition.

A qualified prescriber must assess your individual suitability before treatment can be supplied.

Is Foundayo suitable during pregnancy?

No. Foundayo should not be used during pregnancy.

If you are planning to become pregnant, speak to your doctor or prescriber. Foundayo should be stopped at least 3 weeks before a planned pregnancy.

Can I take Foundayo while breastfeeding?

Foundayo should not be used while breastfeeding.

Does Foundayo affect contraception?

Foundayo may reduce the effectiveness of oral hormonal contraception.

Women using oral contraception should discuss additional barrier contraception or a non-oral method with their prescriber. Additional precautions are recommended for 30 days after starting Foundayo and for 30 days after each dose increase.

What are the most common side effects?

The most common side effects include nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, indigestion and abdominal pain. These symptoms are often more noticeable when treatment starts or when the dose is increased.

What should I do if I forget a tablet?

Take it as soon as you remember. Do not take more than one tablet in a day and do not take a double dose to compensate for a forgotten dose.

Do I need a prescription for Foundayo?

Yes. Foundayo is a prescription-only medicine. You will need to complete a clinical assessment and a qualified prescriber must determine that treatment is appropriate for you.

Does completing a consultation guarantee I will receive Foundayo?

No. Completing a consultation or requesting treatment does not guarantee that Foundayo will be prescribed. Your suitability must first be reviewed by a qualified prescriber.
