Compare esomeprazole tablets by pack and total cost

Esomeprazole prices for 28 generic 20mg tablets range from £11.50 to £15 in this UK sample before separate fees. Delivery changes the order of those offers. This guide compares gastro-resistant tablets, keeps branded products separate and shows the full standard-cost examples we could verify.

The quick answer: the lowest pack is not the lowest total

The Care Pharmacy lists 28 generic esomeprazole 20mg tablets at £14.99. Dr Fox lists the matching pack at £11.50, and Asda Online Doctor at £15. Those prices describe the medicine or treatment pack, before any separate charges.

With published standard charges, the worked totals are £18.98 with us, £16.40 with Dr Fox and £15 with Asda. Asda’s advertised free delivery therefore gives the lower total for this particular comparison, even though Dr Fox has the lower pack price.

The Care Pharmacy sells esomeprazole and produced this guide. We checked a dated sample without discount codes, loyalty rewards or completed orders. The result is not a claim about every UK provider, pack size or supply route.

Esomeprazole prices for 20mg, 28 tablets

Generic gastro-resistant esomeprazole tablets · 15 October 2026
Provider Strength Quantity Pack price
The Care Pharmacy 20mg 28 tablets £14.99
Dr Fox 20mg 28 tablets £11.50
Asda Online Doctor 20mg 28 tablets £15.00

The tablet count is part of the comparison. A price for seven or fourteen branded tablets is a different offer, even if the same medicine name appears in a search result. Likewise, a 40mg product should not be substituted for a prescribed 20mg supply on cost grounds.

Our listed product is a gastro-resistant tablet pack. A quote for capsules or another formulation needs its own check. Ask for the exact proposed presentation if you have swallowing difficulties, ingredient concerns or a previous prescription that specifies a form.

Esomeprazole prices with standard charges

One generic 20mg 28-tablet order · 15 October 2026
Provider Pack Separate standard charges Worked total
The Care Pharmacy £14.99 £3.99 delivery £18.98
Dr Fox £11.50 £2 prescription + £2.90 delivery £16.40
Asda Online Doctor £15.00 Free delivery advertised £15.00

Dr Fox’s £11.50 medicine price falls into its £2 prescription-fee bracket. Adding that and delivery makes the total £4.90 higher than the pack figure. The Care Pharmacy’s standard delivery adds £3.99, while Asda advertises free standard delivery for the offer checked.

Our delivery policy gives free standard delivery on orders over £40. A single £14.99 pack does not qualify. The table assumes one pack, one order and standard delivery; premium services or revised terms may change the payable amount.

These are arithmetic examples based on published charges, not completed invoices. Check your final quote after assessment, including any proposed change in medicine, quantity or delivery option. Do not compare a medicine-only figure from one service with an all-in total from another.

Esomeprazole prices and larger supplies

At a prescribed one-tablet-daily schedule, 28 tablets cover four weeks. That is not a full calendar month in most months. If you are estimating repeat spending, use the number of tablets and directions rather than assuming twelve packs cover a year.

Dr Fox also lists 56 generic 20mg tablets at £19. That is a separate pack size from The Care Pharmacy’s listed 28-tablet option. It has a lower medicine cost per tablet, but a higher upfront pack price and a different quantity decision.

The larger Dr Fox pack works out at about 34p a tablet before fees, compared with about 41p for its 28-pack. Our 28-pack is about 54p a tablet before delivery. These rounded figures help describe the offers; calculate the bill from the original pack amounts.

Do not extend treatment or request additional boxes solely to secure a unit saving. A clinician may want to review symptoms before another supply, and the quantity offered may differ from what you initially selected.

Nexium and generic esomeprazole are separate offers

Nexium is a brand of esomeprazole. A branded small pack may also have a different supply route from the prescription generic pack in the main table. That makes an unlabelled “from” comparison unhelpful: it can mix brand, quantity and service differences in one number.

The same active ingredient does not mean every box has the same price, inactive ingredients or instructions. If your clinician or prescription specifies a particular formulation, compare that formulation. A pharmacist can explain whether a proposed alternative is appropriate.

Our esomeprazole product information identifies the generic 20mg tablets listed by The Care Pharmacy. Check the formulation, count and full quote if another product is recommended.

Recurring reflux needs a review plan

If you keep buying acid-reducing treatment, note how often symptoms return, whether they disturb sleep and whether you have needed other remedies. Share that history with the clinician. Repeated short purchases can hide the fact that symptoms need reassessment.

Ask how long to use the medicine, what improvement to expect and when to seek further advice. Esomeprazole reduces acid production; it is not a reason to ignore new symptoms or to increase the dose whenever discomfort returns.

Our acid reflux service provides a clinical assessment route. A lower-priced medicine offer is useful only when it fits your treatment plan. Consider how to obtain follow-up support, particularly if you are moving from a provider that already knows your history.

Keep a record of previous medicines and your response. Comparing esomeprazole with omeprazole or lansoprazole is a separate treatment discussion, not a calculation of which product gives the most milligrams per pound.

Medicine interactions and symptoms to act on

Tell the prescriber about all medicines, including clopidogrel, and any allergies or significant liver problems. Do not stop or change another prescribed treatment yourself. Read the esomeprazole tablet leaflet for the full warnings and instructions for the formulation supplied.

Difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss or persistent vomiting needs medical assessment. Vomiting blood or black stools requires urgent help. Seek emergency help for severe chest pain with symptoms suggesting a heart problem, rather than assuming it is reflux.

The NHS esomeprazole guide gives general information about use and side effects. Your own clinician should review persistent or worsening symptoms; this price guide cannot establish their cause.

Esomeprazole prices after a prescribing decision

Keep the 20mg strength and 28-tablet count beside any esomeprazole prices you save. A search result may use a smaller branded pack or a larger generic quantity to show its starting figure. That is useful only when the full product description stays attached.

If your clinician recommends a different formulation or course length, compare the new proposal separately. Esomeprazole prices do not tell you which dose to take, and an earlier quote may no longer describe the agreed supply. Confirm what is included, how repeat requests are reviewed and the final payable amount before deciding.

Esomeprazole prices: common questions

Which esomeprazole prices are compared?

The main table uses 28 generic gastro-resistant 20mg tablets at each provider. Branded Nexium, different strengths and different tablet counts are not treated as equivalent offers.

Why is the £15 pack cheaper overall than £11.50?

Asda advertises free standard delivery. Dr Fox’s £11.50 pack has a £2 prescription fee and £2.90 delivery in the checked terms, making its worked total £16.40.

Can I buy 40mg and divide it to save money?

Do not change strength or divide a gastro-resistant tablet to create an unapproved dose. Ask a pharmacist or prescriber about an appropriate and affordable supply.

Is a 56-tablet pack automatically appropriate?

No. It is a larger quantity that must fit the prescribed course and review plan. A lower unit price does not establish how long you should continue treatment.

Discuss acid reflux with a clinician

The Care Pharmacy’s acid reflux service assesses your symptoms, medical history and current medicines before recommending treatment. You can ask about suitable options and their full cost before deciding. Completing an assessment does not guarantee a prescription or supply.
